Applying for a Nevada Nursing License
Nurses in Nevada must hold a license from the Nevada State Board of Nursing, which protects the public's health and welfare by regulating the profession and overseeing nurse qualifications in the state. For those seeking licensure, there are two options: licensure by endorsement for those who currently have a license in another state and wish to transfer this license to Nevada and licensure by exam for applicants who have never been licensed. - Have an official transcript from your nursing school sent to the Nevada State Board of Nursing. International students must have a CGFNS/CES Professional Report sent to the Board.
- If you hold a license from another state, have official verification from your original state of licensure by exam sent to the Board of Nursing. You can do this through the Nursys system (if the other state is enrolled in the database) or by sending the NSBN Endorsement Form to your original state of licensure.

Renewing Your License in Nevada
Nurses in Nevada are required to follow specific guidelines to renew their licenses every two years. If a nurse has not practiced nursing in the US within the last five years, he or she must complete a Board-approved refresher course before the license can be renewed. In addition, applicants who haven't practiced in the state of Nevada in the last five years must submit new fingerprints.
Nurses must complete 30 hours of continuing education within the renewal period, which is the 24 months that immediately precede the renewal date. They must also take a four-hour, one-time bioterrorism course.
Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurses in Nevada
Advanced practice nurses receive additional education and clinical training to practice in a specialized area as a nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioner, and nurse midwife. They must meet all the qualifications of a traditional registered nurse license, as well as complete other steps such as:

- Submit a completed fingerprint card, unless you've submitted them for a Nevada RN license in the last six months

- Submit documentation that your advanced practice program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (formerly the National League for Nursing), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or another recognized body
